Healthy Body, Healthy Hair… Is There Really a Connection? Posted on 27 Apr 14:38

The connection between our bodies and our health may seem complicated, but actually, it’s not as hard to understand as you might think.  It’s as clear as the substances in your body and the hair on your head.

Let’s use arsenic poisoning as an example.  Now, we know that's not a good thing to have, but let’s talk about it from a purely hypothetical standpoint.

The presence of arsenic in your body can be detected by testing your blood, or your urine, or your hair.

Of all the methods, the urine test is the most reliable test for arsenic exposure within the last few days.  But urine testing must be done within 24 to 48 hours for an accurate analysis of the exposure.

However, your hair is a completely different story.  A test of your hair can measure exposure to high levels of arsenic over the past 6 to 12 months!  So, imagine you were exposed to arsenic 6 months ago.  The evidence of it would still be in your hair shaft.

What’s the significance of all this?

Well, for the purposes of our discussion, it means we are what we eat, breathe and absorb through our skin… and so is our hair.

It means that what we’ve eaten, ingested, digested, breathed in, or absorbed over the past 6 to 12 months can be seen in our hair… and if the right tests are available, we could even measure it.

The bottom line is this; if your diet is lacking in various vitamins, minerals, nutrients and micronutrients, the health and condition of your health will reflect the lack of those nutrients up to a year later!

Putting our arsenic example aside, this can be good news.

Why?  Because knowledge is power and the more you know, the more you grow.

You can make some dietary changes today that will begin changing your hair immediately.  You won’t necessarily see it immediately.  Remember, there is 6 to 12 months of hair shaft that reflects what you were doing before.  But as you make changes to what you put in your body, and your new healthier roots continue to grow, rest assured, you will have increasingly healthier hair as the months go by.

Heal thy body... heal thy hair.
